Monsters On The Farm

Monsters On The Farm

This book Monsters On The Farm is my first full-sized book if you can call it that. Honestly, it is an awesome story but I wish it was a little longer.

The book is based on bedtime stories that I told my kids when they were growing up. The kids loved them so I decided to write some down for the grandkids and other kids to enjoy. I wrote about eight short stories before I started writing books, so maybe I will have to share a few here.

Now the characters in the story are fictional though they may remind you of people you have met. One of the best parts of being a writer is taking things around you, twisting them, and molding them to make them into something fun or make the story end like you wanted it to.

The setting for the book is an actual place. This is the farm in Selma, Oregon, where I grew up with Mom and stepdad, three brothers, and three sisters. We really did have a goat named Shadow and an old stroller. How did they fit into the story? Get your copy to find out!!

The Story in Grammy’s Trailer

Grammy's Trailer in the Almeda Fire 2020 Southern Oregon

The Story in Grammy’s Trailer was written right after the Almeda Fire on September 8, 2020, in Southern Oregon. That was one of the most terrifying days in my life.

We were living on the outskirts of Talent, Oregon, which was right in the fire’s path. As we stood in our driveway ready to evacuate we watched it blazed by about a block away, so close we could feel the water from the fire helicopters on our skin.

Luckily, our place was spared but we did lose Grammy’s trailer. On that day, only by the grace of God, my son had just moved out and my daughter was getting ready to move in. So the trailer was not inhabited by people or pets on the day of the fire, though both of them lost most of their belongings.

This trailer had been the backdrop of so many family stories. Grammy and Grandpa had bought and moved it there in the 50s and through the years most of us had lived there at one point or another. This book is my way of preserving all those memories.

Making Tracks From OR to TX

Palmer Making Tracks

Making Tracks from Oregon to Texas is a book inspired by our traveling bear, Palmer. He became part of our family in 2012, shortly after we lost Grammy Jefferies. Since then, he has traveled with us all over the western United States, from Alaska to the Queen Mary.

In 2021, my son’s best friend was getting married in McGregor, Texas. He was chosen to be the best man but he was not excited about flying down there. So, we decided to take a road trip.

My son, my daughter, and I decided to make the trip together and of course, Palmer had to come along for the ride. He was the navigator. This book has lots of pictures and stories from the trip. Palmer also added a little history and fun facts about the places we passed through and his recommendations. Enjoy the trip!!
